1. Label Maker. There are a lot of options out there for label makers today, from simple to sophisticated. “Sophisticated” includes the ability to print icons for different images, different fonts. Some good brands to check out are Brother and Epson.

2. Shirt Folder. I’ve talked about this one before, when I shared the t-shirt fold-and-file method to keeping t-shirt collections and dresser drawers organized.

3. Scanners. A scanner can help get to a paper-free system. Scan copies of receipts, bills, paperwork from school or medical appointments, etc. There are a few options for scanners that can help you get in order, such as Neat Desk, Neat Receipts, or Scan Snap from Fujitsu.
4. Freedom Filer system. This is a filing system for your important documents that helps you keep what you have in order, and remove items when you no longer need to keep them. You can customize your filing system for what you need.

5. Planner. So many options for paper planners to choose from! I think planners can be a personal style, especially the “build your own” type, so perhaps consider a gift certificate to one of these popular spots for a planner:

DIY your own. Use a common surface, like a white board, glass picture frame or cork board, and DIY a gift for someone.

7. Slim hangers. Velvet-covered slim hangers can really make the most out of limited closet space. Treat someone to a total hanger makeover!
8. Clear pockets (Martha Stewart Avery). I get these from Staples, and use them for lots of things. They’re great inside cabinet doors, for holding things like coupons, take out menus, recipes, mail to review, gift certificates/gift cards. They’re translucent, so you can always spot what is in them. They come in white or blue, three sizes: medium, vertical or large sizes.

9. Slide Out Drawers. One of the best ways to get more out of the cabinets you have today is to install pullouts. Whether wooden or metal, installing them can be done by you, or you can hire a company like ShelfGenie to redesign a whole kitchen! Lots of good choices out there for the DIY approach to shelves you can pull out, making every inch of your cabinets more reachable.

10. Cross-cut shredder. Help get a handle on all the paper that comes into the house AND protect your identity as you let go of paper you don’t need to keep. Fellowes makes a top-rated one, and you can find them in a wide range of prices, trading off capacity for price. (The more you want to shred at once, the more you’ll pay for it.)
